Hey there! I'll try to condense this as best I can:

I'm 23 yrs old, I'm about to get my esthetician's license, and my fiance and I are ready for a move. I've lived my whole life in the Peninsula and needless to say I'm sick (and bored) to death of it. I commute to SF 3 days a week, there's no way in hell I'm moving there however, my fiance and I do frequent SF on weekends to eat/drink/party. We both enjoy going out dancing but we also love to get out into nature. We're both drawn to SJ because of the slower pace, more diversity in people, and there seems to be a lot less snobs than SF.

I would love some input on the beauty/spa industry in SJ as far as employment is concerned and if SJ is a "cool" or "fun" place for laid back people who still like to go out. Thanks!

""fun" place for laid back people who still like to go out" Yep! definitely. My wife and I moved to downtown San Jose for just that reason... There is no pretension. You'll find fully tattooed artists, with business suites, college students, young families. It's culturally diverse and there's always something going on. If you want to get a real taste of the scene come to SoFA (South of First Area) tomorrow night Friday June 1st, it's the annual subZERO festival from 6p-midnight. SubZERO Festival

Sure, if you don't stay out past midnight; otherwise it's an expensive taxi ride.
