Did CalTran messed this up or what?

Brokaw Road heading west towards 880 used to be "okay". Well, CalTran decided it's not bad enough, so it overhauled the entire entrance to 880-N, changing the westbound outermost lane to an 880-N specific lane. Now the 3-lane road effectively becomes a 2-lane road. And every morning you could see the congestions all the way to Lundy.

This POS who came up with this idea/plan should be fired!

I saw that article too... hardly an explanation for why they did what they did.

The critical point is this (quote): "the stretch from Old Oakland Road to the freeway overpass will remain only two lanes wide for westbound traffic, with two turning lanes onto south 880"

The permanent change from 3 lanes to 2 lanes is the main culprit. Everyday, I see cars trying to cut back into the right lanes, causing even further congestions.

I still insist the person responsible for this mess to be fired.

Or maybe we should just make him endure that intersection every morning.

I commuted on Brokaw for quite a while, and from the beginning it was 2 lanes coming westbound past the 880 ramps. Then it split into three before you got to Junction. What they need to do is make it clear which lanes you need to be in to get onto the freeway. They did that at the Almaden/85 junction and it's making things much easier than they used to be.
