I have some large items of furniture that I need to donate (in excellent condition), but there's a few complications. First, I can't take a ful day off and sit around the house waiting for pick!up, and second, I can only schedule the freight elevator for 4 hours.

Anyone know of any local charities that will pick up furniture, who can also guarantee a 4 hour or less timeslot?

Do you need a charitable receipt? Or is it good enough to know that someone who needs your things will get them? Because, I like to freecycle my bigger items. You place a online ad of what you are giving away, and you will get emails from people who will take your items. You get to specify the time of pickup, and the people who ask for your things are responsible for being on time. If they don't show up you will have a list of others who want your stuff. You can browse the ads to see if people are looking for your items too. Be prepared for a ton of emails, many people will tell their story as to why they need your items. If you do go the way of a charity, many aren't taking furniture any more due to bed bugs.

I've donated large items to Salvation Army. Book a time online and from what I recall, they do have a 4 hour window.
