Hi Folks,

I am considering a home in Cherry - Guardino neighborhood of Fremont city, CA. It is close to Spetti dr to be very precise. I have seen some low income housing very close to that block. Not saying that those areas are bad, but as I am not from there so am not sure if that's a safe neighborhood or not. Anybody who is from Fremont can hopefully guide me better. Also, how is the commute from there to Sunnyvale? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch for the link. But I am more interested in hearing from anyone living close by than depending on these crime reporting websites. The reason being, that I myself live in an area which has a trailer park very close by. Now if you look at the stats of the area, they would seem all really shady with a lot of offenders in the vicinity. But it is close, yet totally fenced and my community is highly gated and patrolled. Since I have been living here for 5 years, I have never seen or experienced any crime at all. In fact it is one of the most safe communities. It can be the other way around as well. Example, criminals usually dont rob other criminals (if you know what I mean ;-)). So the stats are a good indicator but shouldn't be the ultimate deciding factor in my opinion.

I lived in Downtown Fremont a few years ago (Stevenson and Paseo Padre) and Cherry Guardino is fine. The commute to Sunnyvale and points south are heavy during rush hour. To Sunnyvale, it would be 45 minutes or more in the morning with the worst traffic on 237.

thanks ccm123. It strengthened my confidence :-) (not commute-wise though).

I have been living near Walnut and Gallaudet since October, and I have yet to have any issues whatsoever. I drive past those low income areas that you speak of daily on my way back from work, and IMO, it doesn't even look "low income" if you ask me.
