Tony DiMaggio's, located on Monterey at Capitol - Stromboli and pizza, kind of a hole in the wall but it's been there for decades. Also has cannolis. They opened a second location in the past year or two, I think in Willow Glen or Campbell (too lazy to check).

2nd. Beware, everyone knows about it. The Sharks. The LA Kings. Everyone who lives in WG. It gets crowded.

Pizza California by Brokaw/Murphy and 13th/Oakland. Has a website that takes orders (but uses Silverlight instead of Flash), delivers.

They might know about La Villa, but they might not yet know about Bibo's Pizza, at their new WG location:
Bibo's NY Pizza | The Best Dough in the Business

Said by those who would know to be the best NY pizza in the South Bay

Got Ravs?

Covered eating area in the back is relatively unknown, and usually has some room.

I didn't mention any sandwich places :

1- The Valero gas station on the corner of S. winchester & Sunnyoaks (yes, the gas station next to san tomas expressway). They have a make-it-when-you-order-it sandwich deli (and grill) inside, with delicious sandwiches and breakfast omeletts, etc. All sandwiches under $5.50, many under $5. Mostly to-go, but they have a 4 person counter there where you can eat.

2- The sandwich maker, in the business-court/stripmall on the corner of Lark & University in Los Gatos. Again, fresh-made sandwiches, made when you order. Also, the owners are vietnamese, so they also have spring rolls and Pho and other stuff. Closes around 2, I think, and is cash-only. Great sandwiches. 10 or so tables to eat there, or walk 2 minutes to eat outside at a bench on the Los Gatos Creek Trail.

Both are my "if I'm in the area at lunch time"

okay I'm bringing back my old thread. Just wanted to give a thumbs up for Sliders burgers in San Jose on 1645 W San Carlos St.
Yes it is not the best looking location, but I went there the other day and had a great burger. I will be going there again for another! Burger was much better than how the place looked.

Back-A-Yard in Downtown SJ. Food is about $11 a plate, with soda less than $15. Portion is super-fulfilling, more so than most. Very good quality too. Best Bang for the Buck in Downtown IMO.
