Im not a major fan of the state taking back redevelopment funds btw and I can totally see why SJ did this and personally think it should be alllowed to stand, but as a die hard Oaklander who wants the team to syay, Im a bit elated by this small bit of what could be good news for the 510..we'll have to wait and see I suppose.

It's not as though the Giants are going to relent on their position. Selig will not come to a ruling. It's obvious. The poison is greedy Lew Wolff. He is an embarrassment.

This is a San Jose article, why is it here, instead of San Jose forum, I can understand if it were about some city in the peninsula, or east bay, and people post here about cities there even ones more closely tied to San Jose and Silicon Valley, like Fremont, but this is an article about San Jose.

I vote we move this to the San Jose forum, we are starving it for content doing thing like this.

It' the greedy Giants that is preventing a ballpark for the A's in SJ more so than anything or anyone else. A's should have never gave them these "territorial rights" in the first place.

This isn't even news, for two reasons:

First, this move was known back when Jerry & Co. first started going after every California city's redevelopment dollars. This is just the announcement of their final ruling.

Second, and more importantly, the state ruled that the land was illegally transferred to the city's own Diridon Development Authority. Now it must go to a county-appointed successor to the SJRDA, called The county wants a ballpark built, too, so nothing has really change except for a few hurdles thrown in the way. Government bureacracy at its least efficient.

The A's never had those rights to give away in the first place. This was done as part of the deal to build a privately funded stadium in China Basin (now AT&T Park).

They shared the rights and GAVE the Giants "exclusive" rights. No, the Giants wanted to build a stadium in the South Bay initially and that's why they were given those exclusive rights. It's a shame the Giants never moved to Florida.

No use crying over spilled milk. Basically Selig and his non-existent committee are refusing to rule on the issue, leaving it between the A's and the Giants, the latter who will never relent. Wolff's best bet is for the next commish to approve the move, which is also extremely doubtful.
