Thanks to everyone that answered my question! VERY HELPFUL Glad to have you all here Appreciate the comment from 'momwithadot' as well, especially since I've been ribbing ya for a wee bit in jest--no offense meant, apologies from me if you had thought so

This "kid" thing is a bit of a tiffy, isn't it? Rather expensive and quite cumbersome....wife and I shall have to meditate more on this...

Np, None Taken

About kids - Yes, it is life changing in many ways and is often challenging. Meditate all you need to now. Once you decide to have kids, you'll barely breathe let alone meditate. Figuratively of course!! Have a great weekend

silverkris - yes Santa Clara CUSD, I mentioned that to you earlier. APIs are a simplistic metrics but the relative evolution (or not) of a school's API over the years does tell a story - usually of changing demographics and changing academic focus. A too-high API probably means too much academic pressure, maybe more teaching to the test, and possibly less diversity. The school culture varies a lot within a district - my kid's Kindergarten class focuses on well-roundedness over academics, to the dismay of a family who wanted divisions introduced early on this year (!), and our kid's happy as a clam there. As you point out, API scores do drive real estate values: there used to be a $100k to $200k premium between CUSD and SCUSD, but recent sales such as 171 Serena Way or 3323 Geneva Dr show that the API's perceived importance has gone completely out of whack.

I meant 3412 Geneva Dr (too late to edit the previous post). 3/2 SFR on regular lots selling for $1.1M+ may have an economic justification in the absolute, but not when compared to the sales a few blocks away in SCUSD, same city, same zip code, same neighborhood really (in some cases, same street).
