Valley Fair and Santana Row are just a few short miles away on 280, and Sears isn't enough of a draw for most people to shop in Cupertino.

Anyone know what Fresh Choice went out of business? Bad management? Not making enough money I suppose? They say they had better ingredients than Sweet Tomatoes. Did Sweet Tomatoes come into the Bay Area and give them too much competition?

They may have been claiming that, but I've found Sweet Tomatoes' fruits & salads to be consistently more ripe, less "hard" and more tasty than Fresh Choice over the past 5 years. I'm puzzled why one poster earlier stated Fresh Choice tastes/is better. Goes counter to every single one of my dining experiences in either chain.

I had the same experience in California and at a Sweet Tomatoes in North Carolina. I never liked Fresh Choice either. Even though it was less than 2 miles from my house in Mountain View, I would go down to the Sunnyvale Sweet Tomatoes instead. I wouldn't go to Fresh Choice unless I had no other choice or a friend insisted we go there.

I agree. The first time I was there was 1989, and thought it was in a prime location there in Cupertino. I've never been to a mall more empty and depressing. To me this is a reflection of the city. I have always found Cupertino to be a place that is empty, hollow, a place lacking pizzazz.

They could raze the place, but what else can they put there that would make a difference?

To the OP, I have never enjoyed the Sweet Tomatoes (or Fresh Choice) experience. I'm not a big eater, and don't get any value out of all-you-can-eat places. Pizza My Heart has better salads, pre-packaged. If I want a salad that I don't make myself, I also head to Whole Foods.

I find their salad bar really good and delicious except that they lack proteins (except for eggs and beans). They offer a lof of carbohydrates, deserts and soups (pasta, muffins, bread) but no healthy proteins. I am looking for alternative salad bar.
They don't have chick peas, lentils, bean sprouts, etc?

You're asking for meat. Not "healthy proteins."

I want complete proteins. Meat have that. You don't get from veggies unless you know how to mix them right.

Doesn't soy contain estrogen? It does and it is not good for men. Beer does that too.
