Quick update on homicide number, since last update on 07/14, SF has no new homicides, Oakland has 2 more, and our beloved San Jose unfortunately added THREE more homicides

It's been a violent last 6 weeks. Hopefully this is just the usual East Side flareup in the summer time.

San Jose: 15 homicides. Last homicide July 26, this time last year: 22 homicides
San Francisco: 27 homicides. Last homicide July 4, this time last year: 22 homicides
Oakland: 50 homicides. Last homicide July 28 , this time last year: 49 homicides

San Jose is on track for 30 homicides this year, a slight decrease from 2014's 32, basically a wash.

Here are the 15 homicides broken down by neighborhoods:

East Side = 8
Ghetto Glen = 1
Williams/23rd = 1
South-Central SJ =1 (Officer Michael Johnson).
Fruitvale = 1
Downtown = 2
Roundtable = 1

All the known "troubled" spots in the city has at least one homicide, with only Seven Trees neighborhood being left out. Of the most recent homicides, 5 of the 7 are in the East Side. As usual, that area is showing off its deserved reputation quite well

Bay Area is for schools grads and not for family anymore..it is so expensive..one end up paying mortgage payment for entire life or live on rent.
As a Baby Boomer, one of the things I look for in a possible move anywhere is the median age and I don't want to live where all the young families are, because that inevitably leads to higher taxes...for young families' needs and desires, few of which are mine, with the exception of green parks and quiet recreation.

They don't care about tax rates because they don't pay any taxes of note and those they do pay are with OPM. Nobody cares about taxes when its OPM.

But workers do have to pay taxes and they do care.

Because Wisconsin isn't about to go broke and collapse. How much investment capital do you think will be available when all those people have left?

Would you mind not having any white neighbors or friends to socialize with? If you were planning on living near Apple HQ that is.

Also, the schools indeed are mostly crappy, except in communities like Cupertino, where they have extremely high test scores, but then again, if you're white, your kid will be the only white kid in class.

It's generally considered as the neighborhood surrounding Davis Middle School, especially around Chynoweth and Edenview Drive east of Monterey Road. Sits in zip code 95111. It certainly isn't as bad as East Side San Jose but you can always count on 1 or 2 homicides there every year. Pretty strange though, as the moment you drive a bit more North you're going straight up the small hill where it's very nice and safe.

Actually, Walker has blown a hole in the budget due to his corporate tax giveaways and is taking it out on the education system, both the K-12 and the University of Wisconsin systems.

There isn't going to be a lot of investment capital coming into the Badger State because there won't be a trained workforce. And professors may want to leave 'cause Walker is trying to get rid of tenure.

Tenure should have been abolished everywhere years ago.

Experience is a good thing, no? As long as those folks maintain a high standard of service, of course.
