Hi there, I need some help (2 strong pp) moving 2 large pieces of furniture from my 3rd floor apt down to the garage for storage. My husband and I both have bad backs and are unable to do this ourselves. I have done some research online but I can only seem to find professional movers. If I look under handyman, I only seem to find those that do repairs. Any recommendations for about an hour of work?

Thank you!

You can drive by UHaul, Home Depot, or Lowes, usually in the morning. There are day laborers looking for job.

Really depends on what you want moving. And you get what you pay for. They won't be liable if any breaks or your walls are scratched up. If it is heavy furniture and you are going up-down stairs, you need a dolly. If it is not heavy, then couple guys can carry it.

movinghelp.com

I've hired moving helpers from there at least three times and it worked out extremely well each time. Just choose someone well-reviewed and insured and you should have a similar experience.

How much do those guys at Home Depot/Lowes charge?
I need someone for 1 hour. Not too heavy lifting, but am going down 2 flights of stairs. Nothing fragile though.

Just putting this out there: the Mormon missionaries (the dorky 19 year old guys in white shirts and ties you always see riding in pairs on bikes) are always looking for service opportunities, even if its a 15 minute job for them. They will want to talk about God with you and teach you about Joseph Smith, but you can politely decline if you want and it ends there. They are actually required to do so many service hours each week, so they are always looking for opportunities.

Have you considered calling Goodwill? They are supposed to be all about helping people get back to work.
