Greetings! I'm planning a bachelorette party for late October. We plan to rent a house in Mountain View CA and plan activities in the area -- including San Jose. I'm having a hard time finding fun activities for a group of 6-8 women (ages 25-30). We are interested in cheaper options i.e. not looking for $300+ spa days. Any suggestions are most welcome! Thank you!

Here are a few other guidelines:

- Outdoor activities are OK
- We plan to do San Jose night life/bars
- Restaurant suggestions welcome
- Staying Thursday - Sunday w/ activities happening Thursday night to Sunday morning.

WHAT TO DO:

1) Wine tasting in South County (Morgan Hill and Gilroy). I highly recommend this. Visit Castillo’s Hillside Shire Winery, Clos a La Chance, Morgan Hill Cellars, Emilio Guglielmo, Rapazzini, Satori, Aver, and more . While you're in that area, also check out Villa Montalvo and Hakone Garden in Saratoga. I recommend topping off such a day with a final wine tasting at 7th floor Cielo in Santana Row, or have fun lounging in a Los Gatos dance lounge.

2) Window shopping/real shopping at Santana Row & Valley Fair, or along Mountain View's Castro Street, or at Stanford Mall, or in Willow Glen's Lincoln Street in San Jose.

3) Indoor go-kart racing at LeMans in Milpitas

4) iFly indoor skydiving in Union City

5) Indoor rock climbing in Downtown San Jose.

6) Have a picnic at San Jose's Municipal Rose Garden, and do a short walk over to visit the Egyptian Museum close by.

7) Night golfing at Golfland (Milpitas or South San Jose)

8) Play Bocce ball at Campo di Bocci in Los Gatos or Bowlmor in San Jose

9) Attend a strip club, Cheetah Lounge in Sunnyvale. Very professional place, no alcohol, and the dancers there are stunningly athletic.

10) If you're into gambling for fun, then Bay 101 and Matrix in San Jose. Both are upscale huge casinos.

FOOD:

As for food, there are plenty enough here of all types, but I would like to point out that San Jose's real claim to fame in the foodie world of NorCal is its Vietnamese and Hispanic cuisines. I will let the Hispanic cuisine experts put in their two cents as I'm not much of an expert in that area, but I can recommend for you the following Vietnamese-American restaurants. I will also recommend you to skip all the Pho restaurants, they're a dime a dozen everywhere:

a) Thien Long restaurant. Order their Cha Ca La Vong - turmeric grilled fish. One order is good for 2/3, so order accordingly.

b) Any of the Vietnamese-Cajun/Creole seafood restaurants: Boiling Crab, Kickin Crab, Crawdaddy, or Claw Shack.
Boiling Crab is the best, but also has ridiculously long lines (2+ hours)

As for non-Vietnamese restaurants, there are a ton. I'm partial to San Jose ones such as Nemea (Greek), La Foret (French), Fogo and Taurinus (Brazilian steakhouse), Arcadia (steakhouse), The Table (American), Dynasty (Chinese dimsum), Jubba (Somalian), Back-a-Yard (Jamaican), Minato and Gombei (Japanese), and Krung Thai 1 & 2 (Thai).

NIGHTLIFE:

For nightlife, you have a variety of "clusters" to choose from: San Jose Downtown (up and down 1st and 2nd street, SoFA, San Pedro Square Market), Willow Glen (Goosetown), Santana Row (Sino, Straits, Cocola, V-Bar, Cielo, Yardhouse, El Jardin, Blowfish), Palo Alto downtown, Mountain View downtown (Castro Street), and Los Gatos downtown.

Do check out The Blank in San Jose Downtown and 7 Bamboo in San Jose Japantown, really fun places for bachelorettes eager to croon! Also, Splash Gay Bar in San Jose Downtown is a really cool place for dancing--check to see if they have burlesque or hot-men's shows

I also recommend Korean bars/karaoke joints up and down El Camino Real, as they tend to open till 3 or 4pm! VIP Lounge is my recommendation, their peach soju is BOMB! No Karaoke at VIP though

Good list Bobby...sorry to nitpick but LeMans is in Fremont. I just had to clear that up before it ate away at me forever. Your posts are always spot on.

The saddle rack in Fremont is super fun. Ride the mechanical bull!!! My wife and her friends love that place. Also the willow den bar in willow glen is fun . Plus there is a tattoo shop next door that my buddy works out of if feeling crazy . I fly you will be sore but is very fun for sure. Then Capitola is also fun if the weather is nice. I live down the street from the rose garden and it's very beautiful. Oh if u girls like to dance mountain Charles in Los Gatos is fun. Does get very crowded though. If in Los Gatos go check out the black watch (dive bar) and CB hanagains (killer Irish car bombs). Hope that helps.
