I am looking to see whether it is possible to move all or most of my insurance to a local business, I am wondeiring anyone has suggestions, first I'd rather like to shy away from national insurance as they are too bureacratic ad inflexible and also to support local businesses. Or at least move to company that spans few states rather than all 50 states. I aint looking for rich companies with multitude of services but can give a decent coverage if needed. Anyone has suggest?
Currently i got car, motorcycle, home ownership also home protection plan (for covering damages to utilities i.e. plumbing, electrical).

Most insurance companies are pretty much nation wide, the exception might be CSAA. Maybe what you are looking for is a local broker, rather than a local insurance company?

You'll get a better deal with a large company like Geico. A local company will have to take a cut, and will just be brokering a large comapny's policy, from what I understand.

I tried contacting a local agent in Santa Clara when I lived there, and got worse service than I did from Geico, so I just stayed with Geico.

Personally I have my insurance with Amica and wouldn't use anyone else. At the time I signed up for them, I had an accident on my record; their website quoting rejected me, but after I called them on the phone, their rates were actually better than other companies taking the accident into account. Down the road, I commented to them that it was strange I couldn't pay my life insurance the same way as I did my auto and renter's insurance; they upgraded their software and now it all gets paid from my bank account once a month, even though they are still technically billed separately. As for how they have handled claims, they did not raise my rates for claims I made against my comprehensive coverage and worked with me in good faith.

Downsides - no 24 hour customer service, you need to call during your local office's business hours. They do have 24 hour roadside assistance.
