I came across nylon quick drying shorts with extra pockets sort of in the cargo shorts category, interestingly, at a Walmart, I suppose I might find them elsewhere too, but haven't done much looking.

I haven't found the same type of material for a long pants. I see either cargo pants that are thicker like they usually are (or like jeans) or you have windbreaker exercise pants.

I may have found some online at Amazon, but don't feel like ordering to try:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OOQ87JW/...I1LXGQNJ6BBRY1

Amazon.com: Clothin Men's Thicken Quick Dry Lightweight Waterproof Hiking Trekking Pants

and close to $50 seems like a steep price for such pants. Where might I find such locally at a retail store? (Hopefully priced lower than $40-50).

Would like it to be nylon or windbreaker-ish but also have a belt loop rather than elastic waistband. And additional pockets like cargo pants would be nice.

I guess I'll go shop around including travel/hiking/sports shops but thought I'd ask just in case.

You'll find lots of stuff like that at REI in Saratoga, but they're likely all out of your price range.

Pardon me while I go clean my glasses. I thought this was about quick-drying PAINTS. (Hubby has to paint something).

Buy them at REI. Splurge and buy the good stuff if you want them to work right - as far as quick drying pants, etc. They'll last many years, and if they don't, the return policy is amazing. I am very cheap, but the few things I've purchased at REI have lasted forever. I still have a winter wick-dry pullover I bought there back in 2004 that still looks almost like new.

The REI in Saratoga also has super sales days, like a garage sale in the back room for discontinued and returned items, etc. Get on their email list to find out when they are.

I'd try Columbia Sportswear. They have those types of pants for hiking, even some that are convertible.

I find the REI brand to be just as good quality and a little cheaper than other stuff sold at REI.

Wow, looked like a joke thread, but people took the bait on an odd subject. But we welcome the out-of-box threadness.

Might we suggest the OP have a look into the local surplus store, rather than succumb to this year's yuppie label?

Thanks for all the replies.

@bigdumbgod, any suggestions for local surplus store(s) that might have that stuff?
