I don't know about Asian markets although i imagine that there are many in the San Jose area but i almost always recommend Los Gatos for people moving to the San Jose area and who don't want to do the commute from the ocean side of the Santa Cruz mountains. The commute over hwy17 during commuter times is quite daunting.
But Los Gatos is an easy commute to your husbands place of employment and it's a very nice and safe town and, when it's not during commuter times, it's an easy and fast drive to the coast (Santa Cruz) which may be something that you will appreciate. It's not so much in the thick of things so it's not so frenetic, congested, etc..
If i had to live on the eastern side of the Santa Cruz mountains, i'd live in Los Gatos.

And it's always more difficult to find a rental when you have a dog(s) but it's doable ... just takes a little more patience.
Here's a link to craigslist / Los Gatos.
I checked the dog box so all of the listings allow dogs. Craigslist is a good way to get a sense of the rental scene in any given area. And it's actually a good way to find a place although there are some scams at times so just be careful. Local people (like folks here on city data forum who know the area) can usually spot ads that aren't valid.

Traffic is bumper to bumper from Los Gatos to area near the airport Mon.-Fri. Not recommended.

Thanks a bunch! I tried googling it but wasnt sure how accurate it is. Currently my husband takes 45-60mins to commute to work each way so we just wanted to get an idea what its like in SJ.
If you stay in North San Jose or Berryessa area, it should take you about no more than 20 minutes.

That's an easy answer from North San Jose to the airport is reverse commute. Pretty much going south or east in the morning is reverse commute as long as you're south of 237, east of 85, and for 880 south of Montague. The other day I had a DMV appointment at Los Gatos at 9AM and the traffic was pretty much free flowing south from the Santana Row area on 17.

I don't think it should come us news that the South Bay has commute patterns towards the west and north.

How long a commute is it from Los Gatos to the airport when the traffic is heavy?

Anyone?
Because a relatively short commute from Los Gatos to the husbands place of employment would make living there worth it imo despite how heavy the traffic is.

You can check it on Google maps putting your points, departure time and week day... As previously mentioned, DO NOT recommended. It was not recommended because of a reason I guess?

So there's no one on c-d-f San Jose forum who can tell me how long it takes to get to and from Los Gatos and airport during the a.m. and p.m commute?!! That's weird.
I do indeed recommend Los Gatos if that commute isn't too long.
The o.p. is coming from the beautiful city of Vancouver. No offense but San Jose is an entirely different city and one that perhaps they don't want to live in the midst of.
If i worked near the airport and could afford to live in Los Gatos and the commute wasn't that long i would certainly do so.
