It really is sad to see how bad it has gotten. The only areas I like to drive are 280 North of the Foothill Blvd exit and 101 South of Gilroy.

Back in the day Caltrans was really good at keeping the freeways clean. Plus we didn't have all the gangs (or gang banger wannabes) spraying everything. However I wouldn't want to be a Caltrans worker on these roads. I still remember to this day when I was driving south on 280 from Half Moon Bay and drove up on an accident where a person struck a Caltrans worker. The car was facing forward to the left of me (person looked drunk) and to the right of my car was a severed leg with shoe and sock still intact! It was the most disturbing thing I have seen!

Have you ever been to a big city? Don't drive on a freeway around NYC or Chicago...

Or in Washington, DC, itself, though the highways in Northern Virginia and suburban Maryland are generally in decent condition. That might have something to do with members of Congress living in the area (and of course, DC has no voting representative and tends to be hostage to Congresscritters who aren't always looking out for the District).

That said, the New York State Thruway is in very good shape, but it's a toll road - wonder why?

Graffiti is a crime enabled by the demographics that California has , which in turn was enabled only by illegal immigration.
