I used to go there but it appears it's gone. I used to go there for pies. Can't even look it up on Yelp, so must have disappeared a few years ago. The other local ones are in Sunnyvale and Cupertino.

EDIT: Was it replaced by the Bev Mo that relocated to El Camino Real between San Antonio and Showers? Or maybe it was the new building next to it?

Replaced by Bev Mo and then some. It's sure been awhile since I was in that area. It appears that the entire portion of the block Marie's was on was demolished and replaced by not only Bev Mo but also the "Transit Oriented" denspack next door, etc, etc. Looks like Los Altos is giving no love to classic Mid-Century Modern along "Old US-101" ....

Well at least they haven't wiped out the Hobees just up the road in PA ... yet!

I'm sure I will not recognize the place when I get back. Been away for 7 years plus a few more.

I miss Hobees in Mountain View and Michaels at Shoreline.

There is still one Hobees left in MV (the one at Central and Rengstorff?). Also one in Sunnyvale and one in Belmont. Several others have closed - no more in San Bruno or Emeryville plus a few others I'm forgetting.

I think there is still one in Cupertino and another in San Jose.

Hobee's was my favorite place for breakfast when I lived in San Jose and Sunnyvale. Glad there are still some around.

The Cupertino location closed ages ago...because Asians don't like that kind of food.

No, they're still open. And it's not all Asians in Cupertino, they're just the most visible since they are younger and are raising families.

No, it closed, like 5 years ago. I don't even recall what went in there, did anything even replace it or did they just tear it down? I don't drive that way much these days.

Cupertino is predominantly Asian these days. I didn't mean all Asian, of course. But I think that is the reason they are most visible...they are now a supermajority of the population. If you think that Asians are more visible in Cupertino, it is not merely because they are younger and raising families, although that is ALSO true. The reason is that there just are very few whites left. Whites don't move to Cupertino (in aggregate), and as a result, the ones that are there are mostly elderly/retired/transient. (not homeless transient, just meaning, not permanent residents...as in they don't intend to permanently reside in Cupertino - they rent, they are there for work, etc)

Asians are more visible in Cupertino especially, because Cupertino is DISPROPORTIONATELY Asian, compared to the rest of the county. To be specific, about TWICE as Asian as the county as a whole. So, when it is pointed out that there isn't a pie/Americana place there anymore, because Asians don't like that kind of food - that is a simple reflection of the available market in Cupertino. It closed because you can't stay open when you literally have HALF the customer base as the surrounding communities.

The restaurant business is heavily driven by demographics. Especially if the food is even slightly in the niche category or considered "ethnic". Which, I suppose, American food is now, in a way, in Cupertino.

Dozens and dozens of people have posted reviews on Yelp for the Cupertino Hobee's location over the past five years. I think someone is having a senior moment. Having trouble distinguishing Los Gatos from Cupertino?
