Hello,

I've read that public transportation isn't the greatest in Palo Alto, but if I'm a bicycle enthusiast, ride the busses and live nearby my workplace, can I pull it off?

Many Thanks!

Default Public Transportation in Palo Alto?

Bike riding is no problem in the Palo Alto-Stanford area. Some streets have bike lanes. There is also bus service in the area (VTA - Valley Transit Authority) and there is also Caltrain - a commuter train running between San Francisco and San Jose. You can take a bike on the train. Buses have a rack on the front of the bus for bikes. Look up VTA and Caltrain on the internet.

Did you sign up and live the bicycle commuting life in Palo Alto? I am also questioning the success of living car-free with only (a few) bicycles. Wondering what's in commutable distance.

There are people that live in San Francisco and commute to Palo Alto via bike-train-bike. It all depends on the bus/train connections and how long you are willing to ride (and in the rain in the winter).
