Hi, I am a single mother of 4, looking to relocate. I have been a single mother for about 2 years now since my childrens father passed so I know how hard it can be on your own with kids having moved from the Inland Empire to Orange County. I think I have been through just about every stuggle anyone can face. I'm strong enough to conquer the world now! LOL! I have been to San Jose once for training through a job. It was beautiful but probably very expensive. Does anyone have any suggestions of a decent place that I can relocate to, start new and raise my children? Of course I will need a job, any suggestions on that as well will be very appreciated! Thank you!

Hi-

Unfortunately a lot depends on what you have to spend for housing. If you can afford it, Almaden in San Jose is a very nice area with good schools and neighborhoods. Lots of other areas have great neighborhoods, but it is quite expensive all around.

Good luck!

There are lots of great areas, but I would start with the job first. You will want to find a decent place as close as possible to your job.

Yes, Almaden is a nice area - we just moved from Almaden to Indiana. Depending on your financial situation, it may be difficult to buy a house though. While prices have come down, they're still really, really high. Wait another year, they'll come down a lot more.

San Jose in general is not a great place to relocate to if you are a single mom unless you are earning upwards of 80k. The cost of living here is quite high. Even studio apartments easily cost upwards of $950 a month. Home prices have come down significantly but are still astronomical.
