Yes, at certain times of the day. The fact of the matter is, and my boyfriend, who was born and raised in NORTHERN California and has ALWAYS had this preconception of LA traffic, said himself, LA traffic is NOT as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Bumper to bumper happens a lot, but it isn't at all time of the day. I would say Santa Rosa has bumper to bumper traffic more often than LA does, actually.

From my experience, LA freeway traffic jams seem to involve gradually slowing down (full speed, then 50 mph for a mile, 40mph next mile, etc.. until traffic is barely moving)..

In the Bay Area, traffic goes from full speed to practically stopped in a matter of a few hundred feet.. (that nearly caught me off guard a few times when I saw brakelights in front and was expecting a gradual slowing like I was used to in LA.) I guess premium brakes are a must on any car here if u don't want to die anytime soon...
