Hi All,
I have found the perfect home in the Bay Area, already written an offer but I just found out that its currently owned by a sex offender. The neighborhood is otherwise excellent, there are no other registered sex offenders in the immediate vicinity, and this is my absolute dream home. Also, if I do buy this house that would mean the current offender would move out of the area. So that's a plus, rt? However, I'm worried
2: If this would affect the value of my home when I resell it in about 7 yrs.
2: If my home would be a target for vandalism if all the online sex offender databases are not updated in a timely fashion.
What do you guys think? Thanks a tonne !!

Did he commit his crimes in the house you're thinking of buying?

If not:

Buy it.
Clear it. (ceremoniously or not, clear the energy and fill it with your own).
Occupy it.
Love it.
Create beauty and sanctuary.
Check to make sure data bases are updated.
And be aware and be glad that everyone will love you living there 'cause you're not him.
By the time you want to sell it, the previous owner (the sex offender) will be irrelevant.

I wouldn't want to move into a house where children have been molested or where women have been raped.
The O.P. didn't make that clear ... if he violated people in that home.

And we don't know what his crime was ... what kind of sex offender he was or is.
That's a problem with the sex offender lists.
A young man ... say 18 or 19 ... who had consensual sex with his 17 year old girl friend can be on those lists.

In some places, simply urinating in public can get you on the RSO list.

Awwww, c'mon, RSO's make such great scapegoats... real witches to torch. Don't ruin the party...

Ant to anyone who referenced the RSO in question as 'him'. Notice the OP never even mentioned the sex of the RSO, and then ask yourself if your jumping to conclusions and perhaps being a bit judgmental.

To the point... You don't know what this person did or where they did it. In any case, it wasn't the house's fault. iMore than likely no actual sexual violation took place, since it's usually only pornography offenses that take place in the residence. If the mere thought of any sort of offender ever being associated with that house really creeps you out then don;t buy it. otherwise, just forget about the houses past and give it your own bright future. Also, make sure the list is updated after you move in.

Anyone who cares that much about the person there now will likely notice when the property changes hands.

And no, it will not affect the property value. I know for a fact that such information is not to be disclosed after it is no longer relevant.

Don't buy it! It may be haunted by ghostly sexual organs!
