Hey, all, it's my first time on the San Jose page. I will be moving to Monterey in a few months with my wife and 2 kids. We are looking forward to living in such a unique and beautiful community. While we are there, it looks like San Jose is going to be our "go-to" city for all our mainstream shopping. This would be Nordstrom, Pottery Barn, Ethan Allen, Barnes and Noble and so on. Is there are part of San Jose that has all of this within a close proximity? What parts of town do you all recommend?
Thanks!

In one small area of San Jose, there is Santana Row Home | Santana Row with a lot of high end stores. Nearby is the Valley Fair Mall Westfield Valley Fair Shopping Mall - Home - Westfield Valley Fair and for sightseeing in the same area, there is the Winchester Mystery House Winchester Mystery House .

Agreed with gone down south, Gilroy outlets are going to be where you want to go. Been there many many times during the years when I was growing up in Morgan Hill, and rarely to San Jose until recently when I got a job there. The shopping is better in Gilroy.

San Jose is a big city with excellent suburbs(as in safe)--most of the malls are located right off the freeway whether its 101, 280-680 or 880 so if you get bored of any of the malls that you normally goto then the next mall is only 10-15 minutes away (barring high traffic times)--you have to see the greatmall of the bay area-at least once, which is about 15-20 minutes from westfield mall
