Could anyone recommend a good internet service provider in Santa Fe? We'll be living about two miles from town. From what I've seen it's the standard Qwest, Comcast, or Earthlink
I've seen some other ones mentioned: Grappa, Covad ... any thoughts?
Depending on where you are, you could check out La Canada Wireless, it's a wireless internet coop. More relevant to stuff near, but not in, Santa Fe - Eldorado, Cerrillos, etc.....
I am in Eldorado, and our choices were limited. We went with Qwest, thinking if it didn't work out, we would change later on when we had been here longer.
We have been pleasantly surprised with Qwest, and service so far has been good. We'll be sticking with them.
Doesn't look like it's been addressed since 2008. Just got here from Maryland and looking for a good internet service provider. I'm considering Comcast for internet only because I need high speeds as I won't be going with cable TV and will use the computer for any shows I might want to watch. However, in Maryland I had them for TV and internet and service was spotty. Plus very expensive since no competition. Once Verizon FIOS came along I dropped Comcast and my costs. However, FIOS hasn't gotten to this area yet so looks like Comcast may be the best game in town. Anyone have experience with them as a provider of high speed internet? Any other providers I should consider?
If you've got the choice, I'd strongly recommend La Canada Wireless Association. LCWA is a community owned and operated wireless network cooperative that is volunteer-run with very dedicated, tech-savvy folks who are in it for the love of ground-roots organizations over corporate giants. Speeds are stellar and, while the system goes down for some hours over the course of a year, our household is very happy with the service. They have a limit of 400 members - and they are currently at 397.
I don't anything is wrong with Qwest. I happen to know that they are in the process of upgrading their Internet speeds and are working on QA for service.
