Hi - I've recently moved to Santa Fe and am looking for good places to take my dog swimming. We've been in the Pecos River but haven't found a deep enough spot to actually swim. Can dogs swim at Cochiti Lake? Thanks!

We used to bring the dogs up to Abiquiu, very quiet and lots of places to play.

I've taken my dogs swimming at Cochiti. You do have to pay an admission fee this time of year, but it's reasonable. Other people bring dogs and there are kids around, but I take my dogs on leash and wade out from the shore where I/we can be away from others. Nice swimming and the water is very cool! It's nice to let them swim a bit, then walk around, swim again.
