We are looking to take the kids to see snow. We arent looking to go skiing but have them play in the snow maybe tube. Whats the best place to go. We are coming from North Texas so prefer something as close to the border as possible. Any suggestions?

Santa Fe is probably your closet destination for good snow.

Or, if you're closer to Clayton, you might consider going over to Angel Fire - a very family-friendly town with a whole lot of Texans ;o).
Still, neither Santa Fe or Angel Fire is really close to the border.
The Sandia Mountains just east of Albuquerque also gets its share of snow, and that's a straight shot on I-40, so perhaps that might be closer and still give your kids the experience you're looking for.

Angel Fire has built a new kids tubing park so you might want to check if they have new snow:

Tubing - Angel Fire, New Mexico's Ski & Golf Vacation Destination

I went there to their new cross-country & skate skiing course which has the tubing park too- it's a very pretty area.

Whatever you decide, make sure ahead of time that there is snow- it can come & go at a tubing park since they are not making snow like on the ski hills.

The tubing park here in Ruidoso couldn't stay in business if they didn't have snow making machines. Right now there is ample snow at Ski Apache, but none at the elevation where the tubing park is - yet they seem to do a good business anyway.

Angel Fire tubing park could use snow making machines too! Too much solar!
