This thread began years ago, but i'm looking to move my studio operation to the Santa Fe area, probably. I'm still trying to decide if Santa Fe or somewhere in Arizona will be best. My paintings are very abstract but do reflect the southwest area.

I'm in Lubbock, TX now. Lots of artists here, many have graduated from TTU School of Art. Very few galleries, almost none. The art scene is better than when I graduated in the age of dinosaurs, but it's still dismal. I moved to Houston back in the 1980s and that was wonderful for art! But the years brought me back to my home and ageing parents

I can work anywhere, but I find that a gallery connection in the town where my studio is located (or very near) is quite important for me. And Santa Fe is a fantastic artist & gallery town. I don't need to tell the SF artists that! LOL

Any and all ideas would be welcomed. Already these older links have given me many ideas for how to live in the Santa Fe art "zone"

I have lived (and liked) Arizona, but have not been there lately.

We have lived in the Rio Rancho, NM area for 20 years. We are are about 55 miles South of Santa Fe. We are not Art Experts, but do stop by some galleries in the area.

Here is a large list and description of Santa Fe "Alphabetical List of Galleries" by The Official Travel Site of Santa Fe, New Mexico: https://santafe.org/Visiting_Santa_F...ist/index.html

Good luck to you!

I am an artist stuck in Las Vegas, was relocated from Hawaii in 2018 because of the Volcanic eruption on Big Island, FEMA sent me this far and I have been here over a year and do not like it. I am looking at Taos. I just need a quiet place out of the way to live. I am retired military widow, have a 4X4. I was told to check out this forum to get decent answers. Thank you in advance.
