True, there are many that live in Santa Fe, Pajaoque, Espanola, and other surrounding communities. I live in LA and really like my five minute commute to work. That being said, I did not do any dating here but brought my wife with me.

I've heard the dating scene here described with, 'the odds are good but the goods are odd'. I also think dating success depends on factors such as age and income. There are not a lot of over 30 singles here and the median income is above average. A lot of people that work at the lab bring their spouse with them when they move here. Plus, the nightlife here is fairly nonexistent (except for a few bars).

There is definitely stuff to do if dating is not your priority but I do not think the dating scene in Los Alamos is all too lively.

Yeah... I’m in my late 30s now, and after 7 very long and lonely years in Utah, I want to move somewhere where it isn’t overly difficult to meet someone.

Los Alamos may be a great place to go after I’ve gotten married, but maybe I should hold off for now.

Maybe I should be looking at Albuquerque for now.
I’m really not a fan of big cities (I grew up in Ruidoso. Albuquerque is big for me!) but I should decide on priorities.
Though it looks like well paying software jobs outside of the labs are pretty low. I don’t know whether that’s from a lack of listings for senior positions in private industry, or not. It’d be rough to take a 40% pay cut and an 8% cost of living increase.

Things would be better on both fronts on the east coast (and my sister lives there) but I’ve been wanting to get back to my home state pretty much the entire time since I left. Too many things that I miss, like the food, the sunsets, the big open sky, and the wonderful scenery.

Yeah, I've loved it here ever since moving in 2013 but like I said, I was already married.

I bet Sandia and others would have software jobs in ABQ but it will be slim pickings outside of ABQ & LA (in NM). As mentioned, You could live in Santa Fe/Espanola/Pojoaque (or visit often) but I've heard (anecdotally) those places are not much better.

I personally know people that made a love connection here but I also know people that moved away due a lack of one.

Los Alamos reminds me of New Mexico Techies grown up working in a company town. The earlier quote "the odds are good but the goods are odd" was also true down in Socorro. That said, LA must be an awful place to date--especially for a single man with a mindset like that with the women in town.
