We are considering relocating from the CA central coast, due to the high cost of rent.
We are a family of 5, three kids under 9 years old. Being that we are not from the area, what are good neighborhoods to raise a family in, that have good schools and low crime. Preferably under $1500 monthly rent.
Also it looks like (online anyways) that there is pretty good job opportunity there also, is this correct?
Any and all information or input is appreciated.

Job opportunity depends on what fields you are in. Much of the work available in Santa Fe is either in state government, or in the service industries. Take a look at the NM jobs website for state employment.

https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/newmexico

A good education can be had in any school in Santa Fe, but it will be easier to accomplish in some areas than in others. Those areas also happen to have more expensive housing. I often recommend ElDorado to newcomers who need good schools. The K-8 school that serves ElDorado has a good reputation. For the elementary schools in town, those with the the highest achievement and reputation are Acequia Madre and Wood Gormley -- located in some of the most expensive parts of town where $1,500/mo won't get you much inthe way of housing. Middle schools and high schools in the city are a bit tougher to call. There are several charter school options, and I believe they all admit by lottery. You'd need to look into the specifics of those. I had a colleague whose daughter attended Turquoise Trail charter and did well. But she is a very self-driven student with achievement-minded parents who monitored her education. This is something you'll want to plan to do anywhere in New Mexico.

If you're not set on Santa Fe, consider Albuquerque or Rio Rancho. Rio Rancho is popular with families because the schools are good and the housing costs are reasonable for the newer, larger homes that most families want. Those who live in Rio Rancho often work in Albuquerque or Santa Fe and commute.

OP, I agree with the above points, and will add a little. Just this week I looked up rents for a poster very similar to you, but only 2 kids. There were homes available in SF for around $1500 for a family her size. These are unlikely to be in the "good" school districts, though, and you have a larger family. Could a couple of the kids share a room? Otherwise, El Dorado would be a good choice; close enough for an easy commute into town, with lower rents, and a good school.

"Pretty good job opportunity"? Well, that depends, as the above poster said. If you're in health care--yes. Teaching--check. Construction--check. Lots of jobs for delivery drivers, if you have a clean driving record. Various office admin jobs. Otherwise, it's art gallery salesperson (commission-based), and hotel & restaurant hospitality jobs. Or cashier jobs (lots of turnover at Whole Foods, Sprouts, and the local co-op--there's always an opening). Also: bank teller jobs, and a few real-estate agent assistant jobs.

SF is a small town of 80,000 give or take, so it's not a big job market.

There's a big hiring fair soon, to staff a new hospital being built. They need nurses, but also insurance-bilolig people and general office staff and janitors.

The Wood-Gormley School District is very popular among families with school-aged kids. The neighborhood most affiliated with that district is called South Capital. It might (stress the word "might") be possible to find a rental there for around $1500 a month if your kids can share a room.
