Good morning: one of my students wants to study audio production at the community college south of town. Is there any housing in that area? I don't know if they'll have a car or not.

Nobody knows anything about this? Guess housing is so high in SF, few people can afford it? But tuition at the school is not very expensive. Where do all the students live?

Santa Fe Community College? Sorry, I really have no clue...

I would start here: Best Dorms for Santa Fe Students in Gainesville | True College Dorm Experience

Then I would continue the search here: https://www.google.com/search?q=Sant...firefox-b-1-ab

That's not Santa Fe, New Mexico. Gainesville is in Florida.

I'm inquiring about this school:

https://www.sfcc.edu

It is I believe located on the southern side of the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Santa Fe Community College
6401 Richards Ave.
Santa Fe, NM 87508

But your link did include these (thank you!):

There is no school housing for SFCC. He/she may be able to rent a house, or a room from someone living nearby, but there is really nothing within a reasonable walking distance. There are also apartments in the general area, but would still have to drive or take the bus. If your student has no car, be sure they are close to a bus route to the college. Yes, housing is no bargain in Santa Fe.

Here is a map of the bus routes.

I agree with this. There are rental units in the south of town generally, but students drive or take the bus to the school. I don't know of any community colleges anywhere, btw, that have dorms. When looking for a rental, your student should be sure to get a place with some type of cooling system: either regular A/C (refrigerated air), or "swamp cooler" (evaporative air). Believe it or not there are rentals with no cooling at all. Always inquire. There may be home or apartment shares, too. Craigslist has a separate category for those.

OP - Your student might want to check out the Rancho Viejo neighborhood which borders SFCC. There may be rentals there or perhaps homeowners who will rent out a room in their home. Oshara Village and La Pradera are two newer neighborhoods close to SFCC where rentals might also be possible. A bit further south of the college is the Nava Ade neighborhood.

I really wasn't inquiring about dorms, but here's an exception:

Most community college students in Santa Fe (and across the country) already live in the community where the CC is located. Those who need to relocate to attend a CC just find an apartment within a reasonable distance from the school. Santa Fe is small enough that the commutes aren't long. SFCC is on a bus route in case the student has no car. Biking is also an option.
