Hi.

I'm hoping to be in SF this winter and I like to do yoga sometimes. But I'm middle-aged and sort of klunky so I prefer not to go to advanced yoga classes, or classes that are sort of that "see and be seen" scene.

Does anyone know from personal experience which yoga studios (or other venues where yoga is taught) have classes geared more for beginners?

Thanks!

YogaSource on San Mateo or Guadalupe is one of the best yoga studios in town. I have personal experience as a middle-aged clunky person and I really enjoyed their intro classes. They have all levels as well as gentle yoga for the "extreme beginners". Prices are reasonable and they offer good specials for trying out classes.

Also check the Santa Fe Recreation Centers, especially Genoveva Chavez. The GC center caters to lots of middle aged and older folks and often has good good basic classes.

Thank you so much!! This is exactly the information I was hoping for. I really appreciate it! After my post did not prompt any replies, I was planning just to bring a couple of yoga DVDs and doing what I could with those. But now I don't have to (only) do that! Thank you again.

And if you're down Eldorado way, check out Eldorado Fitness - they have yoga sessions.
