Hello!

Just read an article on Forest Fenn's treasure hunt, and was wondering if anyone has attempted to find the box! Amazing story, and Mr Fenn seems like a real down to earth guy who has lead a full life! Did anyone visit his business, The Old Santa Fe Trading Co?

Thanks for sharing any information!

I have not hunted for the treasure...

There has been much written.

From: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fenn_treasure
As of July 2017, Fenn has stated "The treasure remains where I hid it about 7 years ago".

From: https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/17/mill...ft-a-clue.html
"Fenn estimates that as many as 350,000 people have gone hunting for the treasure"

And hundreds of articles listed here:

I believe at least 3 people have died looking for it.

Thanks Poncho for your reply. Have you read anything on the proximity of the box to SF?

Nope.

Forrest Fenn owns/owned a business in Santa Fe, "Old Santa Fe Trading Co".

The amazing thing is how obsessed some people are over their likelihood of finding the treasure. One woman I know was just certain the clues were all about a site in the vicinity of Leadville, CO and spent most of one summer searching there!

Mr. Fenn's purported aim was to use the lure of treasure as an enticement for people to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. In that, he has been successful; although I'm sure a lot of frustration has dimmed the enjoyment for those whose only mission was financial gain (like so many casino-goers).

The body count is getting a bit high for "enjoyment of the outdoors": 6 people at last count. Now that the treasure-seekers have escalated to physically invading Mr. Fenn's home, perhaps he should consider wrapping it up...

Yep, I'm certainly against treasure hunters invading Mr. Fenn's privacy and space. But as for the body count - at least they died doing what they hopefully loved. Adventurers love adventure and have to accept the risks that come with that. There are ways to mitigate the risk and from what I've read of those who died in search of the treasure, they did not take the prudent steps they should have.

Interesting stuff! I read that Mr. Fenn, at the age of 80, hid the box. He evens states that the box is not hidden in a dangerous place, like a high cliff or near the Rio Grande. At 80, it would be hard for him to navigate treacherous terrain.
