I would have been mortified and beside myself if any my "babies" were lost.

I LOVE Happy Endings!

Yeah, That is great news. I often time don't know what to do when I see dogs running around the neighborhood unattended. I believe that they will tend to go back on their own from where ever they ventured from.

I have a cable with a ground screw attachment, that I will use sometimes for my dog when I am doing something in the yard and I don't want him getting into it (like when I muck out my pond). He loves to make a huge mess of himself when I do that. Anyway, sometimes I know someone has to be looking for this dog that comes in my yard. We have very large yards here, and I know if his owner is driving around looking for him, they will never see him if he is in the back yards (which often they are). So occationally, I have staked them out in the front yard where they can be seen from the street. I'll give them food and water and pray thier owner will come claim them, because I don't want to make the next choice (call the humane society or keep 'em). I dread those choices. Fortunately - I think I made the right choice a couple times (either letting them wander back home - or - holding them for thier owners). We are in a community here where no one has fences, but people with dogs do have invisible fences.

I always check to see if they have a tag on thier collar with an address or phone number. I've call that twice outta 10 dogs in the past year that I have helped, because only 2 outta 10 dogs have those tags. :-(

This is sooooooo important!!! If any of my information changes, I make it my business to go to my local Petsmart or Petco and get their new dog tags.

My dogs are never 5 steps away from me, so this would never be my case thank God! My Mom says "they have it too good to run away from home!!"

Thank you foggytoad and all of of you who have feelings for our companions. Especially the ones with wives!
(god i'm gonna pay for that but it felt so good)

Service dogs need to be given extra space and respect. They are not YOUR buddy! They are their masters servants. I say that with no disrespect and those of you that know that know what I mean.
When you you see a service dog which 9 out of 10 times is a very cool and approachable dog remember that they are working. Throwing them a frisbee or playing roughhouse with them is opposite why they are in your sights. Someone, a human, is dependent on that service animal. They are awesome animals but we need to always respect what they are.
