Good for you!! It was once a dream for many of us here, and believe me..everytime you visit one of the beautiful beaches you will feel as you are on vacation..it's surreal to me and Ive been here four years. I could NEVER take it for granted that I LIVE IN PARADISE! Good luck and have a SAFE trip. Don't forget to stock up on some hurricane supplies, its always good to be prepared!

Nothing major that I can think of, but the Red Cross has opened shelters for those in low lying areas whenever a TS passed by.

Probably Charlie, about 6 years ago, but that wasn't a complete evacuation.

Evacuations are different depending upon where you live. If you are in a mobile home, or in a higher risk flood zone you will evacuate before everyone else. Many times those are the only areas to evacuate.
