Hello, my husband and I have been searching for a vacation townhome/condo in Florida. We liked the Palma Sola Trace Coach Homes a lot, but are unsure of this area. It looks like they are updating parts right around there, but?

Does anyone have an insight on this area? How is Bradenton Beach/Holmes Beach, etc?

Also, I saw online, but we haven't visited yet, the new townhomes at StoneHaven by Centex? Anyone know about these/this area?

Any info is greatly appreciated. Since it is a vacation home, we mostly want to be somewhere safe, close the beaches, close to shopping, under 200K Thanks!

Palma Sola Trace is on 75th between Manatee Ave & Cortez. They canned the golf course that had been there for years and put in a cookie cutter housing development, in my opinion.

Don't know anything about StoneHaven.

You'd be better off to rent for six months before jumping into anything....the market is still falling.

Palma sola trace has CDD fees that are outrageous-- their property taxes are also very high.. Id look elsewhere, that subdivision is very nice but the area has a lot of crime

Default Stonehaven

I looked at Stonehaven a month ago.

They are off of Clark Road which I did not care for as the highway is commercialized and industrial looking.

If you don't like that too, there is a community called Parkridge, built by Centex earlier, that is off of University Parkway (which is a prettier drive and in a more convenient location also). They are resales. They were built in 2005/2006.

Stonehaven was fairly small (a plus, I think) and the buildings looked decent from the outside.

Don't think they had any CDD fees.

Default Thanks

Thanks, I will look into that other Centex neighborhood you mentioned.

Also, the Palma Sola Trace I was looking at specifically were by Taylor Morrisson. A previous poster mentioned it is unsafe there. It did not appear to be a bad neighborhood or anything, is it the surrounding area that is bad or?

We live in Colorado, so any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

That area USED to be nice. Over the past few years, West Bradenton has really gone down hill. I would not suggest to anyone to move to West Bradenton. Everyone I know, is leaving. There is so much crime! Things look okay, at first glance, but you cannot go out at night. I will say that visiting Anna Maria island is nice! But, only to visit! If you are looking for a condo, check out in Lakewood Ranch. It is a further drive from the beach, but it beats west bradenton, hands down! Like I said, I would not suggest anyone to move to this area. But, if your heart is set, check out in East Bradenton (East of I-75).

Yes, I agree-- from looking at the area during the day time it's nice. Palma sola trace is new and well maintained, as is most of 75th street. It's the nearby areas (Im talking across the street, nearby) that would worry me. I live in west bradenton, we came from chicago, and are only renting. We chose to rent here because 2 years ago it didn't seem to bad-- boy were we wrong. We are glad we are only renting! Stay East of 75 and you'll be fine!!

Default I live there and have to disagree

I live in Palma Sola Trace. We go out at night and have no issues. I would recomend it. It is close to the beach, shopping, golf, schools, and just about anything else you may want to do.

I live next to Palma Sola Trace and we love it here. Great area, close to the beach and parks. Lived in this neighborhood for 10 years and in the area for 35 years. I have not once been a victom of crime or felt uncomfortable in the area.

Smile Hazel

We are from Scotland and have just bought a holiday home in Palma Sola Trace. My husband and I have been holidaying in the Bradenton area for 15 years and think we know the area fairly well. In all these years we have always felt safe and made very welcome by the locals. It's a great location for a holiday home with fantastic beaches, great eating places and shops, We have been searching for the right holiday home for several years now and think we've found it.
