Good Morning, everyone,

We are in the process of relocating (finally!) to the Sarasota area; my husband will be there next week around 9/22 (I will follow a month later). We need to find a short term rental apartment as we are looking for a house to buy and don't want to be locked into an annual lease. I look on craigslist daily but find most short term rentals to be vacation rentals (especially since we are approaching high season for your area). If anyone has any suggestions or knows of a place that we could rent for about 3-6 months or month to month, here is our criteria:
  • Professional couple, mid-40's
  • No children, one spayed, female indoor cat
  • 1 Br is fine
  • All appliances, including washer/dryer
  • $600 to $950 per month
  • West of I-75
  • prefer turnkey furnished but could get our stuff out of storage if necessary.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is an international move for us so not quite as easy as packing up and driving from one state to another. ALOT to ship and factor in so finding something that we could just walk into with our clothes and a toothbrush would make life grand!!

Look forward to meeting some of you when we get settled in...

Linda

My first suggestion would be to contact Ladywithafan on here. She lives in the downtown Sarasota area and usually knows quite a bit about what rentals are available around that area. I think her landlord has other rentals as well. From the sounds of it she has a really cute, small apartment downtown. I think her rent is in the range you mentioned as well. She used to be on CD all the time but she's not on as much now since she has a new job. But if you DM her I'm sure she'll respond.

I know you're looking for Sarasota but you could find a nearly new 3/2 in North Port in that range. Just a thought...

Like you said, since the snowbirds will be coming down shortly the short term rental rates will be going up.

Make sure that you do a check to see if the owner has a lis pendes (preforclosure). I'm sure you don't want any surprises.

Look at Tuscany Apartments, they are in Sarasota (University Pkway) Theyre close to the airport and beaches and are surrounded by a lot of amenties along University Parkway. Its a very nice area also. Not sure what part of Sarasota you will be looking at so this may be a bit too far if you are looking south. This area would be ideal for Sarasota/ Bradenton, it is a really nice location. Especially for someone just relocating

Thanks all for the information...@oobie119 - will check out Tuscany. I will be working out on Longboat Key and husband off Clark Rd, near I-75 so looks like we will be doing some driving! @Coachgns, have scoured homeaway and vrbo but all are out of our price range coming into season or don't accept pets (have an indoor cat). Will keep plugging away online...
