Usually they show up during late August and September and during late April and May. I haven't seen them for their fall round yet but they should be here anytime. They usually last about 4-5 weeks. Many people don't know that they stop flying at dusk so you can avoid them by driving at night

Thanks for the suggestion! I didn't see much of a problem this year, but a couple of years ago I wish I had read this post! Maybe I would have waited a couple of hours before driving home. Seriously, in May I went to a morning meeting in Clewiston and drove back to Bonita Springs in the late afternoon. OMG! After a few miles, I couldn't see a thing and my windshield wipers had hundreds of love bugs stuck to them. Then I couldn't scrape my windshield. What a mess. I hate killing any living creature, even bugs, but my main concern was safety. My car looked like this.

Edit: I have to add that I've lived in FL for many years and I never saw anything quite like it before. Must have been the area.

Thanks, I just hope the little buggers don't decide to show up this week!
