Anyone know how much it would cost to replace the drywall on a home 1900sf and built in 2007?

And even if you do replace the Chinese drywall, does that mean your safe from the chemicals?

Thanks

I'm looking at two reports right now for a home in Bobcat Trail that was found to have CDW. The house was built in 2006 and the square footage under air is 2030. The total bid was $78,766. There was another bid written on the same house by a different company and the bid was $78,400. Keep in mind that sometimes the homes have to be stripped down to the studs, all appliances replaced, electrical, plumbing (if copper), A/C is often affected, mirrors, light fixtures, etc.

Due to liability I'm going to let other people answer part B of your question

Due to gastrointestinal liability, all I can say is...

UGH.

Awful, just awful.

with property values falling like they are--there is no cost incentive to do that--
unless you can get the house for basically nothing
because you still have the disclosure about the CFW that will cut the value of the home even if it HAS been remodeled and supposedly cleaned up...
there is no insurace that will cover any type of "secondary infection" is there--
like if there is something missed and subsequent buyers have to make further repairs?

Is the seller required to disclose the existence of Chinese drywall?

If the seller is aware there is an issue this should be disclosed on the Sellers Disclosure. Here's the problem. If you are buying a bank owned home, they have never lived there. They may not be aware that the home has CDW. This might also be the case if it is a homeowner. If the homeowner didn't know then, of course, they wouldn't be disclosing.

Just my opinion but when buying a home it may be best to hire a professional to check the house before you decide to buy or not. I don't think anyone looking to unload one of these homes will be too eager to disclose what they do know - that it has CWB.
