While we celebrate food whenever we are down your way we also include Itialian in that mix. And if you go to Key West there is certainly great Italian there. And in Sarasota as I have mentioned before Solarzano's does it for us for Italian. I would disagree with you that there is no good Italian in Florida but will definately agree with you about all the other cultures. Our German favorite is Heinrichs in Sarasota. And you have such a long list of such fantastic restaurants that makes it easy to celebrate food down there.

Well one thing i might be able to verify with NY water.

My uncle uses it upstate NY up by Canada to make pizza. I never tried his pizza but all reports say its one of the best and even competes with Boston pizza places. He moved up there from the city and started a pizza business and the locals love it, and immediate family say its great too. Maybe he gets the NY mountain water in it. I mean the "good water" so many talk about.

Also Exhibit B, Genesee beer vs PBR/Bud. Genesee although really cheap has a nice flavor. Genesee comes from Rochester NY. It has a refreshing flavor that is hard to get sick of. I get sick of the other cheap beers more often, but Genesee I could drink a lot of.. just not Genny Light. That beer I think has the tasty NY water that makes it taste pure despite the fact the best ingredients are not in it. Also, Rainier beer from Seattle area is real good for a cheap beer. They have that nice NW water too. Pittsburgh area I think has good water too since much of their beer in that area that is = in quality to Budweiser tastes a lot better like Iron City, Yuengling, Old German. I believe the water impacts things like beer especially cheaper kinds. I think in FL where the water isnt so good, you can't tell the difference IF they use quality beer ingredients like Cigar City brewing does and can come out decent, but if FL made cheap beer, I bet it taste pretty bad. In Mexico, they use that lousy mexican water to make the beer and you get what you get, a bad taste in much of the mexican beer. Could be it too. Only quality ingredients offset bad water I think with beer and even then, still may not taste as pure as a beer from where the water is good.

Besides the water, the ingredients come from the "S" place in Palmetto....same reason many of your restaurant's food taste the same...duh....Now...I had a friend in Bradenton who had a little pizza place that is now defunct (read same reason Two Senioritas failed in Bradenton back in late '90s, i.e. many people here have no taste buds...). He got his ingredients out of an italian supplier in Orlando. Pizza was out of this world delicious & closest I've tasted to NYC since my other friend's closed their pizza place back in 2000 that was in the Kmart plaza on Manatee Avenue. That pizza places owners were from Philly & did fly the water in. Don't even get me started on the lack of good Chinese food. I think they're laughing all the way to the bank...and just in case you want to really **** someone off when ordering your take out chinese, just ask for the the "other" mustard and catch the look you'll get. There is a way better, hotter chinese mustard but you won't get it unless you ask & they give you the teeny tiny container but it's the bomb.

Dr. Genney Cream Ale is not like you say. You may have fond memories of it but I bet thats only because you could get the 30 packs cheap cheap I would tend to agree wityh your assesment though in general.

Head south on 75, then cross alligator alley, then 595 east to either the turnpike or 95, then north to Boca Raton. There' s as good as it gets in fla in Mission Bay.
