I just happened to catch the opening of a TV show my wife watches called Cougar Town and the open shows a map of Florida and seems to target the area south of Sarasota....and the main character is a Realtor! Looks like Venice to me but it could be Northport...not sure. So, just wondering, where is Cougar Town and who is the cougar?

I think we have our own cougar on here. If I remember right the paper interviewed LadywithaFan on this thread: //www.city-data.com/forum/saras...ugar-town.html

I was thinking of using it in my new marketing campaign. Maybe I could have a middle aged woman with a big cat in her lap and the brochure could say-Come to Sarasota-Cougar town!

Lol Haha

Funny read! I remember now having lunch with my daughter when she pointed across the street at the Gator Club and told me the place was known as a cougar hangout. I think it would be a funny but memorable marketing idea! You'll need to change your nickname to "Kitty" though! :-)

Hell, I'll go there then if thats the case. I don't mind the idea of going with an older woman. I NEVER heard this about Gator Club, this is a new one on me.

Wow, Gator Club has been there for a while. The building has been there since the early 1900's. It was a grocery store at one time, a cigar store, a real estate office. It's been a bar for quite a while though. Wasn't aware that the cougars prowled there.

So, if it's a dude that dates younger women what exactly do you call him? Mountain Lion?? Hmmm...

~Kitty--haha (I'm not sure I qualify for the cougar category at only 37. I would think you might have to be over 40.)

According to Wiki:

Cougar - The term is commonly applied to women who are thirty or older and pursue younger men. (Famous cougar Jennifer Anniston was 38 when she was dating her younger boyfriend John Mayer.)

Puma - a woman in her late twenties and thirties who dates a younger man (i.e., 20-somethings), often considered a "cougar in training". It also means a cougar whose age disparity is less than eight years.

Manther - A male 40 years of age or older, who pursues younger women, typically more than half his age.

Trout - An older man who dates a younger woman.

That's funny as anything! Who knew? Guess I would fall into the cougar category after all. That would be, of course, if I was on the prowl-which I'm not.

Wiki sure does keep up with the current trends, etc

I knew it was there for the longest time, just hardly went in there and didn't know cougars went there.
