I have been reading with interest all the info posted about Sarasota area, but am curious to know if anyone has actually lived here more than a few years.

Moved here in 1967. Just starting my 44th year. As long as you love the water you will love the area. I have many friends that were actually born here. Can't think of any better place.

Born and raised here. Born in Bradenton and I've lived in Bradenton, Longboat Key, Bradenton Beach, Venice, Sarasota, North Port, Port Charlotte, Englewood, and Little Gasparilla Island. Basically I've lived in all of SW FL. All three of my kids were born here as well.

Started vacationing here in 1972. [way before I-75 when the area was REALLY nice] Moved here in 1984 There was no University Pkwy, There was no [new] 301 north of University Pkwy. Fruitville, Bee Ridge, Clark were single lane. And try to imagine the Bee Ridge Rd/Cattlemen Rd intersection, two single lane roads with a stop sign on Cattlemen, surrounded by woods and cow pastures.
