Went to the Boatyard Saturday night on the deck (yummy!) and I was covered up except for my ankles and these darn little black bugs (tiny black mosquitoes??) got me good! They bite worse than a mosquito..And of course, I was the only one bitten.

Well, I must be allergic to those little devils because my ankles are now thankles, very swollen. This happened a couple weeks ago on my leg (it bit me through my clothing!). Anyone know what I am talking about and what they are? I haven't seen them all summer, just withing the past few weeks.

Yeah they're no-see-ums. NO SEEUM sometimes if you move to the other side of the restaurant they won't bother you. They stay very close to their breeding area.

Bad thing about them is that they can go through the screening on pool cages.

Yep, that's them....Thanks! I have been quite safe inside our pool cage. We haven't had anything that flies get in and I hope it stays that way!

No-see-ums are all through Florida and the Caribbean. Most people find them harmless, but apparently, there are people who seem to attract them. My wife is one such person.

Bad luck.

Well, look at the bright side: they're pretty localized (i.e. not exactly omnipresent), and at least you don't attract alligators or vultures.

They attack me as well. They don't seem to like mr.cool at all. Which is weird, because mosquitoes LOVE him, and me, not so much.

I've always heard that, too..I must have fairy in my blood.. Wondering if the 'garlic pill' thing works? BTW...I volunteered at the kids Fall Carnival tonight and my poor toes got eaten by those nasty ants. I had prepared in advance for the no-seeums and wore my Burt's Bees natural repellant but I guess the ants could have cared less. Now a couple of my toes look like vienna sausages! LOL! But I wouldn't change it for anything. At least the no-seeums stayed away from me. I just saw everyone's pics from Ohio tonight for trick-or-treat and everyone was BUNDLED up! No, thank you...I love it here..

I remember when my husband and I were in Playa Del Carmen for his company vacation...There were 6 of us (three couples) waiting for our car to take us to dinner, and my husband's boss and I were standing there across from each other getting eaten alive by these no-see-um things. Everyone else was just fine. Must be a sweetness thing..

We joke about it, but there must be a reason some people seem such irresistible targets for insects. I assume it's pheromones or something glandular (that yields an aroma of some sort) or something.

Glad I do not have it. Seems like torture.
