I have friends coming in for the weekend who want to play. I don't golf but am familiar with the names. I gave them University Park's # already. Any other suggestions? The other courses that I know my xh played came up private on my course search. Suggestions golfers?

Played Bobby Jones and Serenoa last month.

Both Bobby Jones courses need to be played before 11 unless your friends like 5hr rounds.

I'm not a big golfer but I asked a friend of my husbands who is really into golfing. He said the best public courses around are University Park and The Legacy on the east side of University. He mentioned Bobby Jones Golf Course (off Fruitville) and said it's older but it's not too bad. Stoneybrook & Heritage Harbour course (off 64) he mentioned as well but he said he wasn't sure if they were public this time of year.

Thanx both! Will pass it on!

Serenoa is a solid track, and won't break the bank. Not too easy, not too tough, and they keep it in nice shape. They do not do the greatest job of keeping it moving, though, and 5 hour rounds are pretty standard.

University Park (http://www.universitypark-fl.com/Club/Scripts/Home/home.asp - broken link) looks great to me. I have not played it, but some have given less than stellar reviews. I hear a lot of people saying it is sliding.

Legacy is purportedly the best of the public courses, but it is TOUGH (narrow, Palmer design) and it is expensive ($85 right now I think).
