My brother is getting married in October and I'd like a new dress. I'm looking online at Davids Bridal and see some nice short styles. However, I do NOT want to drive to Tampa for a dress. I've checked Macy's and some stores at Sarasota square with no luck. Everything I find is too casual. Looking for something Classy with some color options where I won't throw in my wallet first. Ideas?

There was a bridal shop on Manatee Avenue, somewhere around the 3200 block or so, but that could be closed. Also in Lakewood Ranch there's one and the bridal shops always have a good selection of formal dresses (not all of them long). Might want to try those instead of a department store.

Maybe a guy shouldn't give advice, but I will give it a shot anyways. Designer Consigner on Bahia Vista , near Beneva. I pass by their window often and they have some classy clothing in there.
I have NO connection whats so ever.

The Ellenton Outlet Mall does have a Saks. The only other option may be the Dress Barn. They have a fairly large selection of dresses, some of them for more formal occassions, but whether you can find something for a wedding depends on how formal you're looking for. Most of their dresses are priced under $80. The other stores there carry more casual clothes. If you haven't been to that outlet mall and decide to check it out, the Vanity Fair store has some great deals and several clearance racks with an extra 20 - 30% off right now.

My wife went to David's bridal and fell in love with a dress for our beach wedding 3 yrs ago. But, she didn't like the $1,400 price tag, so she noted the style # on the tag and looked it up on eBay. Found the exact same dress in her size about 2 weeks later and got it for $175!!! She was THRILLED! So, check eBay if you want. Good Luck

I actually work for Davids Bridal and I don't think they particularly have the best options for guests v.s. those IN an actual wedding party. Be careful, you might wind up wearing a bridesmaids same dress or another guest at the wedding. Marshalls or TJMaxx always have dresses and you would be surprised, also try AnnTaylor I used to work for them as well. You also can't go wrong with Macy's they have an actual formal wear department.
