We are looking to move to the area. My sister lives in Bradenton and she said that Lakewood Ranch is very nice. I have two young children so schools are our top priority. Can anyone tell m what the schools are like in Lakewood Ranch? Thank you!

All of the elementary schools in Lakewood Ranch are considered "A" schools and your particular school depends on where in LWR you live. You have McNeal, Gullett, Braden River, and Willis. You can see the school grades at: School District of Manatee County FCAT Grades and you can plug in an address to see which schools you'd be assigned to at: School Locator

Is this what you want to know or are you looking for more specific info?

Another site where you can gather information on both public and private schools in FL is:

Florida Schools - Florida State School Ratings - Public and Private

or the FL school accountability reports at:

School Accountability Report .

A friend of mine lives in lakewood ranch and loves it, she said the schools are very good. We went up there and visited and the community is very nice, lots of new shopping areas. We are considering moving there but are on the fense because not sure if work in Sarasota is busy enough fo my husband.

they are excellent--but carefully evaluate the private or religion based schools

That area has some of the best schools in the county. Between that and nearby Braden River area, you are set for great schools...

Thanks for posting this question, we are considering a FL move, and are looking in Lakewood Ranch, too. How old are your kids? Are there certain schools you like/dislike? What about Lakewood Ranch itself? Do the different areas have different personalities?

@DKTHEB,

My children are 4, 7 and 9. If you wish to move here, drive around the neighborhoods first and count how many children that you see "playing" outside. Have you ever read "A wrinkle in time"? LWR, reminds me of Comasotz, the neighborhood toward the end of the book.

I was there a week ago and I told my hubby it reminds me of candyland, everything has a cute name like the peppermint forest and gumdrop mountains, lollipop woods, molasses swamp.. ok I know its a little off, but you get the idea.
