Thank you SoFLGal. Yes, I might have to bump up my budget or look at LWR or rent. At least I now know which neighborhood I should focus on.

MarYsol, I've been studying neighborhoods around PSE, too, while waiting for my house to sell. Annoyingly, some streets seem really appealing while others nearby not so much. That makes it so difficult, when you can't find great big "lumps" on the maps! Most of the homes in that area are older than in Three Oaks so it's hard to find something truly "comparable" although there are a few newer fill-in homes in older neighborhoods.

SFG, maybe she should take a look at Pine Shores? We lived in that neighborhood a decade ago and it doesn't seem to have changed much, except for some mcmansions at the end of the canal streets. Occasionally a big shady interior lot is available. These are older homes but some have been renovated. Not quite the home you seek, MarYsol, but that neighborhood was filled with students @ Phillippi Creek and we met a lot of nice families there. I would have been happy to stay but we had to move for job reasons...

I know you were asking SoFl but I thought I would chime in since I live in a great neighborhood, in your price range, less then 10 minutes from Pineview. Look at Bay Oaks, it is a wonderful place to live and that is comign from someone who moved here from Turtle Rock. Good Luck.

Pine Shores is a neat little neighborhood. Definitely has great access to Siesta Key without paying the high cost of being "on key". Most of the homes were built in the 50's & 60's, a few in the 80's. There are a few places on Brentwood Ave that would fit the bill.

Bay Oaks is another option but it's in Laurel Nokomis district, that's why it didn't come up on my radar. She was searching Phillippi district. There are several homes well within her reach in Bay Oaks.

Hi everyone ! Thank you for all your feedback. I ended up getting a place in Lakewood Ranch instead. There just wasn't that much in the PSE district and as msms pointed out, there aren't that many big lumps of neighborhood. I did find a place in Sarasota but the neighborhood was only one street big, I really wanted something more like Three Oaks but in PSE. So I am off to the bubble of LWR. Will still drive to Sarasota to check out the events such as Yoga on the Beach !!
