I don't see where they got anything wrong. Last year was very active (3rd most named storms in recorded history, tied for second for most hurricanes in a season)

We just got lucky that most of the storms wandered around in the Atlantic, or went south of us.

NOAA predicted:
  • 14 to 23 Named Storms (top winds of 39 mph or higher), including:
  • 8 to 14 Hurricanes (top winds of 74 mph or higher), of which:
  • 3 to 7 could be Major Hurricanes (Category 3, 4 or 5; winds of at least 111 mph)
We actually had:
  • 19 named storms
  • 12 Hurricanes
  • 5 intense hurricanes

It did seem like a nice tranquil season last year, especially compared to the last 5 or 6 years.
