Don't know about the steamer clams. Publix grocery store has pistachio and coffee ice cream. There is a Dutch Oven Rest in Sarasota. They may have dutch oven pancakes.

I am just excited to be going to an area where I will have choices not just the ONLY 1 Grocery store to shop and typical fast food crap.

Nope, no steamer clams like that - you can buy bags of little necks at some of the fish markets, and they have good oysters down here.

I think you can do the pan cake thing, and don't forget to invite me over when you do!

They have steamers at the Lobster Pot on Siesta Key. I have had them, and they are pretty good.

Not as good as the ones I used to dig myself, in Rhode Island, but pretty good nonetheless.

For some reason, a lot of people don't like them. Probably because they're sure not much to look at, and they tend to have a little grit.

I like them better than any other clam.

The Lobster Pot is really nothing to write home about, but I would suggest it if you get a hankering for steamers. Call ahead to make sure they have them, though.

Your on! You must have read my mind! I'm kinda shy, I normally don't open up to invites like that right away! LOL

Rushmore is right, there are some places where you can get the steamer clams, but you have to look around.

Are there Blue crabs, like the one in Maryland down there. It looks like they use them for bait

They have them at Pincher's Crab Shack, but they bear little resemblance, ultimately, to those found in a giant Old Bay-covered pile on a newspaper atop a picnic table in Baltimore.

But they're OK.

Thats funny No big deal, there is plenty of other seafood down there. Way more than in MN. I was just wondering because I grew up in VA catching and eating blue crab. I was looking at a bait shop online down there and saw they used them for bait Glad they are not the same !
