Just wanted to jump on and say hello! My husband and I bought a condo in Venice and are hitting the road from Phoenix next week. I am absolutely chomping at the bit...can't wait to be close to the beach again! Does anyone know anything about the Venice newcomer's club? We only know a few people there and would love to make new friends.

Congrats on the new purchase! I know once in a while we have a City-Data meet up, although that hasn't happened in quite some time.
What I would suggest is just getting involved in activities that you enjoy-gardening, golfing, tennis, birding, photography, etc. The seems to be a club for nearly everything.
Another idea is to go to

Hey, congratulations. You will love living in Florida. If you are buying a condo, then you should hook up with people in your condo association. Most of them have activities and things to do.
I don't know of anyone that belongs to the Venice Newcomers Club, but you could contact them and ask if you could attend one of their meetings as a guest and see what it is like. Their web site is:
