I dread a time when I have the experiences many seem to have had with finding parking at SK, but so far have been extremely lucky with never more than 3 minute wait on non holidays. This past friday a friend drove up from Port Charlotte and we arrived around 11:30 and though the lot was packed, we found a space within two minutes. Now the 4th was another story same gal pal drove up and it was a nightmare, but we were determined to find a spot somewhere and thankfully a lady was sitting in her car at a farrrrrr away lot and offered to move her car over so we could squeeze in beside her. . That was a hike to get back to the main area only to end up in the midst of a rain storm. still it was worth it for the fun of the time we did get to spend there.

Most of the time, I will take the Scat bus #11 to Siesta Key Beach if I'm going alone. I know the luck can't hold forever when going with friends that prefer the use of their vehicles, but I can hope, maybe I'm their lucky charm. .

We were there in April, and didn't have a problem with the parking at all. We found spots in the public beach lot, and also farther down the road at the beach access points. Such a beautiful beach!!! We also stayed closer to Turtle Beach and there was always parking (although we were able to just walk there) and it was never crowded. You are all very lucky to live so close to such beautiful beaches. Hopefully we will make it back next year.

I was there for the first time early May (Mother's Day weekend), got there at 11:30 and it was Christmas at the Mall. Tons of people were just driving around the lot, following people if they looked like they were leaving....which, of course, no one was. There was a big beach party with hundreds of college kids in attendance. I was just about ready to give up and go somewhere else. The only reason I found a spot was -- some of the college kids had backed their truck partially into a handicapped space to unload their kegs of beer. I happened to notice that part of the handicapped spot was open. (I am handicapped.) I asked them if the spot was open, and they apologized and said they were pulling their truck out in a few minutes. I was furious that they dared take up a handicapped spot to unload beer, but happy that I noticed the spot and asked them about it. I had to wait about 10 mins. til the driver mosied on back to move the truck. When I was leaving about 3 PM, it was STILL Christmas at the Mall.

During this time of the year, you should find a spot. If not, just sit tight for a couple of minutes and somebody leaves.

You're talking about scarce parking in July? I thought summer was the slow season down there.

In the winter we have people avoiding the winter up north. In the summer we have students & vacationers which not only comes from this country but other countries as well. There is never a SLOW time at the beach, just times when it is less busy.
