Anyone have moving boxes they want to get rid of? We are being relocated once again, this time to MI (if one of you even dare make a crack about me freezing or the snow, heaven help you, hahaha. I am already stocking piling for the winter so I won't have to leave the house between Nov. and March ).

I do want to say to you all City-data'ers, thank you. You made moving and living here so much more enjoyable knowing there were people who could lead me in the right direction and not feel so lost. Thanks

When we moved from North Port to Port Charlotte, we got free boxes at Petco and Publix. If you call Publix they will tell you when they are avaialble and you go to the back of the store and pick them up. Petco puts them in their dumpster out back after they unpack. You can also get free boxes at a liquor store. They are great for packing glasses and houseware stuff.

I would also suggest Publix for boxes. Ask the store manager or assistant manager of your local store, they've always been great about giving me boxes for storage or shipping over the years.

Save-A-Lot grocery store usually has a lot of free boxes right up front for customers to take (because shoppers bag their own groceries). I moved in January and got a lot of free boxes from Save-A-Lot in all different sizes and styles. And I didn't have to bother with asking the manager (as you would do at other stores).

Not sure if there's an Old Navy there, but they have shipments every Tues/Thurs usually and have good boxes. Just have to call the day before and talk to anyone in management.

Where is there a Sav-A-lot? I'm going to have to go check that out.
