My boyfriend (49 years old) is moving to Sarasota to be close to his children and is looking to meet good, quality male friends that he can spend time with when I'm not in town.

He could also join a club, gym, or volunteer somewhere of interest. Does he play any sports? He could join a sports team.
Does he own a motorcycle? You said he likes motorcycles. He could join a motorcylce club. There are a few in Sarasota or look at

I'll second the car club idea; we belong to both, Austin-Healey and BMW car clubs (2-each), and we have literally made hundreds (if not thousands, with help from the internet) of friends.
So much so in fact, that I no longer have a normal "day job" and now work from home, staying plenty busy all year around, and that's in Toledo, Ohio. I already have a lineup of people waiting for us/me to get established in Florida, as they're holding off on projects until I can do them! And I LIKE playing with cars
There's even a running joke (started by a friend in Orlando) that there'll be a new Z3 car event on the 2012 events calendar__helping Randy move in!
Just something to consider, as there's a Marque club now matter what you drive. Sure beats hanging out in bars
